According to Sibu MP Oscar Ling, the Transport Ministry should work on increasing the frequency of flights between Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak in order to reduce airfares. Ling stated on Thursday that the reduced frequency of some airlines has led to exorbitant airfares, reaching as high as RM999 for a one-way ticket during off-peak periods.

Ling also pointed out that airlines may advise passengers to book tickets in advance, but a lack of flights contributes to ticket shortages and expensive fares, due to high demand outweighing supply.

The MP emphasized that addressing the issue of airfares between East and West Malaysia is a priority for the unity government, in order to prevent the marginalization of East Malaysians.
