In Kuala Lumpur, 48 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from different sectors, including community, youth, and student organisations, as well as various political groups, are planning a six-day picket near the United States Embassy starting from 10pm on Monday (Dec 26).

The picket, titled “Aksi Bertindak: Kepung Demi Palestine” (Action Initiative: Siege for Palestine), is an expression of solidarity with the people of Gaza, where 20,424 Palestinians have been killed as of Dec 24 due to the ongoing war, and it is also a call for peace.

The Palestine Solidarity Secretariat (SSP) stated that the picket in front of the American Embassy is a symbol of the siege on Gaza, and it is a demand to stop the killing of Palestinians and to implement an immediate ceasefire.

The demonstrators are planning to camp out in tents at the picket location, organize solidarity events every night, and display the Palestinian flags and symbols of the people’s struggle.

Participating NGOs include the Malaysian Islamic Consultative Council, Viva Palestina Malaysia, Yayasan Al Quds Malaysia, Suara Rakyat Malaysia, and the Malaysian Women’s Coalition for Al-Quds and Palestine. – Bernama
