A tourist from Singapore has disappeared off the coast of Desaru on Wednesday. The Penawar Fire and Rescue Department operations commander, Masri Ibrahim, stated that the incident was reported at 12.33pm.
According to Masri, the 49-year-old man and his teenage son were participating in recreational activities at the beach. Witnesses stated that the man was swept away by the current and could not be found.
“His 16-year-old son was rescued by the public before the authorities arrived at the scene,” he said in a statement.
The boy has been taken to Hospital Kota Tinggi for treatment.
Masri also mentioned that a red flag had been raised at the beach to warn people against water activities and that the search for the missing man is ongoing.
