The first Sino-Italian Biodiversity Conference was launched in Rome on Tuesday, according to participants who said the event opened up opportunities for scientific cooperation between China and Italy.
The Italian National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC) invited a delegation of about 20 researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) to come to the Italian capital to engage in discussions about biodiversity conservation with Italian scientists.
During the conference, the focus was on identifying common challenges facing the scientific community, sharing solutions that have been implemented, and exploring potential future collaborations between the two countries in areas such as monitoring, preservation, restoration, and valorization of biodiversity.
NBFC President Luigi Fiorentino highlighted the fact that both China and Italy share a common language when it comes to preserving biodiversity. He expressed optimism about the conference, stating that it is just the beginning of what he believes will be a productive partnership. “I am convinced that together, we will be able to reach new frontiers of scientific cooperation,” Fiorentino said.
The Sino-Italian Biodiversity Conference is scheduled to continue until March 28, allowing ample time for participants to delve deeper into discussions, share insights, and establish potential avenues for collaboration moving forward.
