PETALING JAYA: Service on the Ampang/Sri Petaling Light Rail Transit (LRT) line was disrupted for a few hours earlier on Sunday (Aug 4) after a small fire broke out on the tracks near the PWTC station.
Viral videos showed smoke billowing from the track as a small flame could be seen on a section between the double tracks.
In multiple Facebook posts on Sunday, Rapid KL confirmed the incident and said it had deployed an engineering team to repair the track and investigate the issue.
In a Facebook post at 2.46pm on Sunday, Rapid KL confirmed repairs have been done and the LRT service is back to normal.
“Alternative train and shuttle bus services have been terminated. The travel schedule has been regulated with train services back to normal.
“We apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience,” it said.
In an earlier post, Rapid KL said its preliminary investigation found that the technical damage was caused by a small fire on one of the components on its track.
This marks the third fire incident involving Rapid KL’s LRT service after another fire similarly disrupted service along the Kelana Jaya LRT station track on July 26.
On Saturday (Aug 3), another small fire broke out at its Masjid Jamek LRT drain area but it did not cause any service disruption.
