PETALING JAYA: The SMART Tunnel has been closed to road users as flash floods hit Kuala Lumpur.
The Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) on its Facebook page said that the water at Sungai Klang-Sungai Ampang has reached a volume of 150 cubic metres per second.
“Water from Sungai Klang/Sungai Ampang is still being diverted to the Berembang retention ponds and is passing through the tunnel,” the department said.
The DID said Mode 3 of the SMART Tunnel was activated at 10.10am, resulting in the closure of the tunnel to traffic.
Mode 3 refers to the activation of the SMART Tunnel, with the clearance and closure of its motorway to traffic.
The tunnel will then be on standby mode for stormwater diversion into its motorway component.
