Are you a fan of unusual sports such as dog surfing, extreme ironing or professional pillow fighting? Good news: Snapchat is launching a summer channel specialising in sports of the more unconventional kind.

Don’t expect to find the latest soccer or basketball news here. Snapchat is launching a summer channel focusing on unusual sports, with episodes presented by popular sports creators.

The “Snap Sports Network” channel will launch on July 19 and runs until Aug 7. The new channel will feature all kinds of offbeat sports.

As Snapchat explains: “With 180 million Snapchatters watching sports coverage every month on average, we’re covering sports in our own light-hearted and wacky way and inspiring Snapchatters to engage with unique sports they’ve never tried before.”

The “Snap Sports Network” will broadcast six episodes featuring fun segments on the most unusual sports around the world – including “hobby horsing, professional pillow fighting, and more” – all thanks to Snapchat user content.

The channel’s presenters will include Kris London and Rachel DeMita, as well as other influencers known for their content about more traditional kinds of sports. The brand e.l.f. Cosmetics will be the network’s launch partner.

This original approach to sports content could well appeal to Snapchat’s audience and generate increased engagement on the app in the midst of the Paris Olympic Games. Special “Snap Sports Network” AR Lenses will also be available as part of this initiative

As part of a broader trend, many social networks have recently entered the arena by offering sports content on their platforms. – AFP Relaxnews
