(Reuters) – According to manager Mikel Arteta, Arsenal forward Kai Havertz is thriving in London and feeling much more confident after a tough period. The German international, who was signed from Chelsea for 65 million pounds, struggled initially this season but has scored two goals in his last two games, including a late winner against Brentford. Arteta noted, “Everything is starting to come together. A lot of the things he was doing right, he’s continued to do and now obviously in front of goal, he’s being very efficient.”
Arteta added that Havertz has been positive and influential to his teammates and the team, and his confidence is growing. Arteta also emphasized the impact of feeling loved, respected, and admired in the squad.
Arsenal is scheduled to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in a Premier League clash, and could potentially build a four-point lead at the top of the standings if they win, with their closest rivals Manchester City and Liverpool playing on Sunday.
Arteta stressed that Arsenal is solely focused on the upcoming match against Wolves, despite the title race speculation. He highlighted the quality of Wolves, who have already beaten top sides like City and Tottenham Hotspur this season.
Arteta also commented on the use of VAR (Video Assistant Referee), emphasizing the need for patience and openness to constructive feedback to improve the technology. He noted that this approach will ultimately lead to a better place in terms of VAR’s effectiveness.
