(Reuters) – Bayern Munich, Galatasaray, and AEK Athens have received fines from UEFA for incidents involving crowd disturbances during recent Champions League and Europa League matches. The fines were announced on Friday by European soccer’s governing body.
The Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Body of UEFA fined Bayern Munich 40,000 euros ($42,380.00) due to fans throwing objects and lighting fireworks during their 2-1 victory against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.
Galatasaray, on the other hand, received a total fine of 51,500 euros ($54,564.25) for various offences committed during their 3-2 away win against Manchester United in the Champions League. These offences include throwing objects, lighting fireworks, causing damage, and disturbances among the crowd.
In addition to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray, AEK Athens was also handed a fine of 81,625 euros ($86,481.69). The punishment was given for different offenses during their Europa League 1-1 home draw against Ajax Amsterdam. These offences include obstructing public passageways, throwing objects, using a laser pointer, and lighting fireworks.
The exchange rate between euros and dollars is 1 euro = 0.9438 dollars.
