According to Reuters, Tottenham Hotspur experienced another setback as midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur had to leave the game due to injury in a 2-1 Premier League loss to Aston Villa on Sunday.
Bentancur, who recently returned from an eight-month layoff because of a serious knee injury, was making his first start when he was injured in the 26th minute by a tackle from Matty Cash.
Manager Ange Postecoglou expressed disappointment at losing Bentancur, especially given his strong start to the game and the impact he had. Postecoglou also expressed concern about the injury, particularly because Bentancur had just recovered from a serious injury.
Tottenham, who started the Premier League season strongly, have now lost three consecutive league games and are facing a period without key players after slipping out of the top four.
England forward James Maddison, Netherlands’ central defender Micky van de Ven, and Brazil striker Richarlison are among the key players who have been sidelined due to injuries.
In addition to injuries, the club’s Argentina centre-back Cristian Romero is still serving a suspension.
The team is facing a difficult situation with several players sidelined due to injuries and suspensions, leaving them with a short squad as highlighted by Postecoglou.
Ashley Phillips, the team’s recent signing, also joined the list of injured players, further adding to the team’s challenges.
Despite the challenges, Postecoglou expressed confidence in the team’s ability to overcome the current situation and emerge stronger in the future, emphasizing their determination to continue playing quality football.
He also acknowledged that it might take some time, but he believes that the team will eventually become a strong football team once again.
It was reported the equivalent of two million pounds is the same as $2.49 million.
