(Reuters) – Birmingham City has removed Wayne Rooney as their manager after a short stint of less than three months, the second-tier Championship club announced on Wednesday, following a series of winless matches that left them teetering dangerously close to the relegation zone.
Rizing to the position of Birmingham manager in October, Rooney took over when the club was in sixth place in the table. However, the team’s performance has since deteriorated, causing them to plummet to 20th place, with only six points separating them from the relegation zone.
