At Turf Moor on Sunday, Bournemouth managed to secure a 2-0 victory against Burnley, extending the latter’s winless run in the Premier League to nine matches. Goals from Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo helped Andoni Iraola’s team clinch their first win in 2024.
The opening goal came in the 13th minute when Kluivert capitalized on a long ball over the top, evading Dara O’Shea with a swift turn before slotting the ball past James Trafford into the net.
Despite Burnley’s dominance in possession, reaching 80% at one point, they struggled to create meaningful opportunities in the attacking third. Bournemouth’s goalkeeper Neto made a crucial save from a Jacob Bruun Larsen free-kick just before halftime to maintain their lead.
It was Semenyo who sealed the victory for Bournemouth with a late solo effort. The Ghanaian winger cut inside from the left and his shot took a deflection before finding the back of the net, securing three points for his team and lifting them to 13th place with 31 points.
On the other hand, Burnley’s woes continued as they suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, leaving them second-bottom in the table with a 11-point gap from safety and only 11 games remaining in the season.
