(Reuters) – Chelsea’s Reece James, the team’s captain, revealed that he has recently undergone surgery to address a recurring hamstring problem. The 24-year-old right back from England had previously missed seven Premier League matches earlier this season due to a hamstring injury, and he experienced a similar issue during Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Everton this month.
James took to Instagram on Thursday to share the news, saying, “The footballing world knew I got injured, but the procedure I would go down this time took slightly longer to figure out the best solution. I had surgery today to try fix my recurring hamstring issue, the recovery has started, both physically and mentally.”
Currently sitting in 10th place in the Premier League, Chelsea’s next match is against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
