(Reuters) – Chelsea’s Romeo Lavia will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury, the Premier League club announced on Wednesday.
The Belgian midfielder sustained the injury during his debut match for Chelsea, a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace towards the end of December.
Lavia, who is 20 years old and previously played for Manchester City and Southampton, signed with Chelsea in August on a seven-year contract valued at around 55 million pounds ($69.3 million).
Chelsea, currently in 11th place on the Premier League standings, are set to face Burnley at home this Saturday.
