(Reuters) – Chivas Guadalajara, the Liga MX side, announced on Wednesday that former Manchester United striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez has returned to the club where he began his career.
After spending three years at Major League Soccer (MLS) club LA Galaxy, the 35-year-old signed with Chivas Guadalajara on a free transfer following his departure from the MLS outfit in November.
Hernandez, who went through Chivas’ youth ranks, played for their first team from 2006-2010 before making a move to Europe by signing with Manchester United.
During his time at Manchester United, Chicharito contributed to two Premier League titles in 2010-11 and 2012-13 and also played a role in their 2010-11 Champions League campaign in which they finished runners-up.
Following his stint at Manchester United, he went on to play for Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham United, and Sevilla. He holds the record for the most goals scored for the Mexican national team with 52 goals.
