(Reuters) – The Czech Republic’s national football team has removed three players from its squad just a day before a crucial Euro 2024 qualifier against Moldova, the Czech Football Association (FACR) announced on Sunday.

The team had tied 1-1 in their Group E qualifier against Poland on Friday, leaving them in second place. To secure automatic qualification to the Euro finals, they must avoid defeat at home to Moldova on Monday.

“On Saturday night, three players of the national team seriously violated the internal team rules,” the FACR posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Jakub Brabec, Vladimir Coufal, and Jan Kuchta have been dismissed from the national team camp with immediate effect due to the decision of the national team management.”

All three players had started in Friday’s match against Poland and had traveled back to Olomouc in the Czech Republic with the squad on Saturday. According to local media, the players spent the night at a local nightclub.
