Following a 0-0 draw, the Egyptian Super Cup semi-final between Modern Future and Pyramids was decided by a 34-penalty shootout, which Modern Future won 14-13 in Abu Dhabi’s Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium on Monday.

The win allows Modern Future to advance to the final, where they will face either Al Ahly or Ceramica Cleopatra. Pyramids, on the other hand, were eliminated after missing a fourth penalty kick.

Defender Osama Galal missed two penalty shots for Pyramids, including the final one that resulted in Modern Future’s victory.

While it may have felt like the shootout would never end, it fell short of the 54 penalties taken in a local cup match in England last year, where Washington FC defeated Bedlington Terriers 25-24.

A Namibian Cup match in 2005 between KK Palace and Civics featured 48 penalties, making it one of the highest-scoring shootout events.

The shootout was incredible it went on for so long, but it was well short of the 54 penalties taken when Washington FC beat Bedlington Terriers 25-24 in a local cup match in England last year.
