(Reuters) – Everton have been penalized with a two-point deduction, marking their second deduction this season, as the club’s appeal in response to a Premier League charge for violating Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) has been rejected by the league on Monday.
An independent commission considered the club’s arguments and evidence regarding various potential mitigating factors for their admitted breach of 16.6 million pounds ($21 million), which included the impact of two consecutive PSR charges against them, as stated by the league.
“The commission has decided that a two-point deduction is the appropriate sanction, and it will take effect immediately,” the statement read.
