LONDON (Reuters) – Manchester United secured a much-needed victory against Fulham, with captain Bruno Fernandez scoring in the 90th minute to seal a 1-0 win in the early Premier League game on Saturday.
The match was on the brink of ending in a dull stalemate when Fernandez capitalized on a loose ball near the penalty area and unleashed a low skidding shot that found the back of the net.
Manchester United, after suffering two consecutive 3-0 home defeats, their worst start to a season since 1962, faced immense pressure on manager Erik ten Hag. However, their triumph at Craven Cottage has somewhat alleviated that pressure.
Nevertheless, there are still concerns regarding Manchester United’s trajectory under the leadership of the Dutchman, as the team displayed another rather shapeless performance.
This victory marks Manchester United’s third consecutive narrow away win in the league, propelling them to the sixth position with 18 points from 11 games, ahead of the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.
Fulham, who were denied twice in the second half by excellent saves from Andre Onana, currently sit in 14th place with 12 points.
