(Reuters) – The former England and Queens Park Rangers forward Stan Bowles has passed away at the age of 75, as confirmed by his daughter and the Championship club on Saturday.
Bowles, who had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease since 2015, had a successful career including 315 appearances for QPR and scoring 97 goals. He also represented England in five matches.
His daughter Tracey Bowles announced the sad news on Facebook, saying, “Sad to be writing this but dad has passed away. He was with all the family and went peacefully.”
Bowles began his professional journey at Manchester City before moving on to play for QPR, Nottingham Forest, and Brentford, among other clubs.
“Our deepest sympathies are with his family and friends during this incredibly challenging time. May he rest in peace,” QPR stated in a release.
“The club will soon announce how we plan to honor Stan in due course.”
