(Reuters) – Granada, who are currently 19th in the table, have decided to part ways with manager Paco Lopez after their recent struggles in La Liga. Lopez, who guided the team to promotion just a few months ago, has been unable to turn their season around, with the team winless in their last 11 league games and only managing to secure seven points from 14 matches.
In addition to their poor league form, Granada faced further setbacks after being disqualified from the Copa del Rey for fielding an ineligible player earlier this month.
Lopez, who took over as manager in November, was able to lead Granada to a Spanish second-tier league title and secure their return to the top tier of Spanish football after being relegated the previous season. However, his tenure has now come to an end amid the team’s struggles.
Granada also announced that Lopez’s technical staff will be leaving the club, further signaling a significant overhaul within the team.
This decision comes after Granada’s 3-1 defeat to Alaves on Saturday, which only further compounded their situation at the bottom of the table.
The club will now look to make changes and find a new manager to try and steer them away from the relegation zone and improve their performances in both league and cup competitions.
