In a match at Craven Cottage on Saturday, Bruno Guimaraes scored a late goal for Newcastle United, securing a 1-0 victory over Fulham. This win has given Newcastle a glimmer of hope for qualifying for European competitions next season.
Under the leadership of Eddie Howe, Newcastle has shown impressive form, remaining unbeaten in four out of their last five matches. Currently, they are sitting in eighth place in the Premier League with 47 points, trailing behind Manchester United and West Ham United by just one point.
Despite Fulham’s dominance in the match, they failed to convert their chances into goals. Guimaraes managed to silence the Fulham crowd in the 81st minute when he capitalized on a loose ball that came his way after Harvey Barnes’ cross was cleared by Antonee Robinson.
Not long before Guimaraes’ goal, Newcastle had a goal disallowed by VAR. Fabian Schar’s goal was canceled out due to a push by Dan Burn on Calvin Bassey, disrupting Bassey’s ability to defend against Schar’s shot.
It was a swift and effective response from Newcastle after having a goal controversially taken away. This victory has helped boost the team’s morale and confidence as they continue their campaign in the Premier League under Howe’s guidance.
