In Serie A action, AC Milan secured a 1-0 victory over Fiorentina, with French defender Theo Hernandez converting a first-half penalty to break the deadlock and claim their first win in five matches.
The decisive penalty came in first-half stoppage time, after Fabiano Parisi’s late challenge resulted in the spot-kick opportunity for Milan.
Prior to the penalty, Tommaso Pobega had a close opportunity to put Milan in the lead with a header towards the near post, but Fiorentina keeper Pietro Terracciano managed to make a crucial save.
Facing potential equalization, Fiorentina nearly scored around the hour mark when Nico Gonzalez’s cross deflected off a Milan defender and hit the far post.
As the match entered stoppage time, Milan keeper Mike Maignan made a dramatic save by stopping a close-range shot from Rolando Mandragora with his face.
With this win, Milan currently holds third place in the Serie A table, accumulating 26 points and trailing leaders Inter Milan by five points. Meanwhile, Fiorentina sits in sixth place with 20 points.
