(Reuters) – Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp announced on Friday that midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai will be out for upcoming games due to a hamstring injury. The Hungary international was injured during Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Newcastle United in the Premier League.
Klopp informed reporters that Szoboszlai’s injury is “an injury… muscle, hamstring,” and mentioned that there is uncertainty about his return. He also mentioned that Mohamed Salah will not be available due to joining the Egypt squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, and combative midfielder Wataru Endo will not be available as he joins Japan at the Asian Cup. Klopp expressed his well wishes for the players during their international duties.
Regarding the absence of Salah, Klopp acknowledged the challenge of finding a replacement for the attacker but expressed confidence in the team’s ability to adjust. He also mentioned that they are focused on the upcoming games against Arsenal and Fulham, highlighting the importance of securing victories in these matches.
Liverpool’s upcoming match against Arsenal will be followed by a game against Fulham just three days later. When asked about the possibility of rotating the squad due to the short turnaround, Klopp expressed uncertainty about the need for rotation, stating that the team aims to field a strong lineup for both games in order to secure wins and advance in the League Cup and FA Cup.
Overall, Klopp emphasized the team’s determination to perform well in the upcoming matches despite the absence of key players. He acknowledged the challenges posed by the schedule but remained optimistic about the team’s ability to overcome these obstacles.
