In Serie A on Sunday, Inter Milan defeated Lazio 2-0, increasing their lead at the top of the league table to four points. Goals from Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram secured the victory for Inter.
Inter’s first goal came as a gift from Lazio defender Adam Marusic, who made a costly mistake by giving away the ball during a backward pass. Martinez took advantage of the opportunity, dribbling past Lazio’s keeper Ivan Provedel to score from close range in the 40th minute.
In the second half, Thuram extended Inter’s lead with a well-placed shot inside the far post after receiving a precise pass from Nicolo Barella.
With this win, Inter now leads the Serie A standings with 41 points from 16 games. Their closest competitor, Juventus, has 37 points and missed the chance to take the top spot after being held to a 1-1 draw at Genoa on Friday. Lazio currently sits in 11th place with 21 points.
