England forward Lauren James scored twice in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Women’s Super League on Saturday.
Chelsea struggled to convert several opportunities in the first half, with James and Fran Kirby missing good chances.
James broke the deadlock with a stunning shot into the top right-hand corner after the break, followed by Kirby scoring her second goal of the season five minutes later.
James sealed the victory with a flawless right-foot finish in the 59th minute before being substituted for new signing Mayra Ramirez.
Chelsea, who have won the WSL for the past three seasons, currently sit at the top of the standings with a six-point lead over Manchester City. They are set to face Everton on Feb. 4 after their Champions League group stage match against Paris FC on Tuesday.
