(Reuters) – Juventus has announced that they will fully support Nicolo Fagioli after the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) confirmed that the player’s seven-month suspension for breaking betting rules has begun.
The FIGC declared the punishment on Tuesday and later confirmed that the suspension started on Oct. 19, suggesting that Fagioli could potentially make a comeback towards the end of the season.
Additionally, the FIGC stated that Fagioli will undergo at least six months of gambling therapy, including a minimum of 10 public meetings within a five-month period.
“The Club has acknowledged the official press release from the FIGC n°177/AA and asserts its complete support for Nicolo Fagioli in tackling this course of action,” Juventus stated in a press release.
“We will provide the player with the necessary support to fulfill the prescribed therapeutic plan and, as stipulated in the agreement, cooperate with the Federation in organizing the scheduled appointments.”
The club affirms their belief that Fagioli will be able to make a successful comeback once the suspension has concluded, with the assistance of the club, teammates, family, and the professionals supporting him.
Newcastle United confirmed on Wednesday that their midfielder Sandro Tonali is also being investigated for betting-related matters.
