(Reuters) – Ilkay Gundogan’s last-minute penalty helped Barcelona secure a 2-1 comeback victory against Las Palmas, who played with ten men, in a heated LaLiga match on Thursday.
Las Palmas took the lead in the 12th minute when Munir El Haddadi scored from close range after being set up by former Barcelona midfielder Sandro Ramirez. The hosts dominated the first half of the game.
Barcelona equalized 10 minutes after the break thanks to a defensive error that allowed Sergi Roberto to assist Ferran Torres, who managed to beat Las Palmas’ goalkeeper Alvaro Valles with a scruffy finish.
In added time, Las Palmas defender Daley Sinkgraven was shown a red card after pushing Gundogan, and the former Manchester City midfielder made no mistake from the spot, converting the penalty kick.
With this win, Barcelona moved up to third place in the LaLiga standings with 41 points, trailing leaders Real Madrid and Girona by seven points.
