Over in Germany, Bayer Leverkusen managed to pull off a 2-1 victory against Heidenheim on Saturday, securing an eight-point lead at the top of the table and matching a German record of 32 matches without defeat across all competitions. The visitors took the lead just before halftime when Jeremie Frimpong scored with a slightly deflected effort.

Despite hitting the crossbar in the 77th minute, Florian Wirtz was able to assist Amine Adli three minutes later, resulting in a 2-0 advantage for Bayer Leverkusen. Heidenheim managed to reduce the deficit in the 87th minute with a goal from Tim Kleindienst.

Under the leadership of Xabi Alonso, Bayer Leverkusen has yet to lose a match this season in both domestic and European competitions. Their impressive feat also saw them equal Bayern Munich’s record run of 32 unbeaten matches from 2020. With 58 points, Leverkusen currently sits at the top of the table, eight points ahead of Bayern Munich.

As the news continues to unfold, all eyes will now be on Bayern Munich as they take on VfL Bochum on Sunday. It’s been an exciting season so far, and it’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the matches play out. (Reporting by Karolos Grohmann; Editing by Hugh Lawson)
