Despite hitting the crossbar in the 77th minute, Florian Wirtz was able to assist Amine Adli three minutes later, resulting in a 2-0 advantage for Bayer Leverkusen. Heidenheim managed to reduce the deficit in the 87th minute with a goal from Tim Kleindienst.
Under the leadership of Xabi Alonso, Bayer Leverkusen has yet to lose a match this season in both domestic and European competitions. Their impressive feat also saw them equal Bayern Munich’s record run of 32 unbeaten matches from 2020. With 58 points, Leverkusen currently sits at the top of the table, eight points ahead of Bayern Munich.
