(Reuters) – Bayer Leverkusen have regained the top spot in the Bundesliga standings following a 2-1 victory over Freiburg at home on Sunday. This win keeps them unbeaten this season with eight wins out of nine league games.

The scoring was initiated by Florian Wirtz in the 36th minute with a stunning strike from inside the box. Wirtz managed to trick the Freiburg defence with his impressive footwork before sending the ball towards the far post.
In the 60th minute, Jonas Hofmann further extended Leverkusen’s lead with a goal. Nevertheless, Freiburg managed to pull one back just ten minutes later through a header from Manuel Gulde.
