(Reuters) – Barcelona overcame an early setback to secure a 2-1 victory over Alaves in LaLiga on Sunday, with Robert Lewandowski scoring twice in the comeback.
Alaves’ 19-year-old striker Samu Omorodion stunned Barca by scoring just 18 seconds into the match with a close-range strike following a quick counter-attack. Despite the early setback, Barcelona managed to keep the deficit to just one goal going into halftime.
Alaves missed multiple opportunities to extend their lead, including a close-range attempt from Samu in the 30th minute.
However, Barcelona regained control in the second half, with Lewandowski equalizing with a powerful header in the 52nd minute off a cross from Jules Kounde on the right touchline.
In the 77th minute, Alaves’ Abdelkabir Abqar fouled Raphinha inside the box, leading to Lewandowski’s winning goal from the penalty spot, neatly placing the ball high into the middle of the goal.
Barcelona currently sits in third place with 30 points, trailing second-place Real Madrid by two points and surprise leaders Girona by four points.
