(Reuters) – Liverpool’s chances in the Premier League title race could come down to their ability to remain calm under pressure, according to manager Juergen Klopp. After falling behind to an early goal from Brighton’s Danny Welbeck, Liverpool rallied to secure a 2-1 victory and claim the top spot in the league standings on Sunday.

Brighton struck first just 84 seconds into the match, but Liverpool showed resilience and responded with goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah to secure the win. Klopp noted that his team has made significant progress in developing their mental toughness, as they have now won seven league games this season after conceding the first goal.

“When I talk about being nervous as a whole unit, we were more nervous years ago,” Klopp told reporters following the match. “That’s long ago but it is something we had to develop together … If we all together enjoy this, then we have a chance.”

With 67 points, Liverpool currently sit at the top of the table, holding a two-point lead over Arsenal and a three-point lead over defending champions Manchester City. Klopp emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset in the title race, as they prepare to face Sheffield United next.

“We are there with two other teams fighting for the biggest prize in English football and we will see how it will end up,” Klopp mentioned. Despite announcing his decision to step down at the end of the season, Klopp expressed his commitment to enjoying the remaining matches.
