In anticipation of their home FA Cup fourth round match against Premier League champions Manchester City on Friday, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that James Maddison is ready to start.
Despite being sidelined with an ankle injury since November, Maddison is “in a good place” and has been training all week, making him available for the upcoming match, as per Postecoglou.
While the decision to start Maddison ultimately depends on the manager’s assessment of the entire team on game day, he has expressed confidence in Maddison’s readiness to play.
Postecoglou also mentioned that Dejan Kulusevski is fit and available, after missing the 2-2 league draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford last Sunday.
However, Tottenham will be without South Korean captain Son Heung-min and midfielders Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr, who are all on international duty.
Following a four-day break, Spurs enter the match with refreshed players, as noted by Postecoglou, who emphasized the benefits of a good training week with increased numbers and intensity.
Despite the challenges posed by injuries and absences, Postecoglou expressed optimism for a strong finish to the league season and a successful cup run.
He credited the players for coming through a difficult period and setting the stage for their upcoming matches.
Ultimately, the upcoming period will serve as a test of the club’s preparation and resilience, as acknowledged by Postecoglou.
