In a thrilling match on Sunday, Manchester City and Chelsea played to a 4-4 draw, with Erling Haaland scoring two crucial goals for City. The result sees City move a point clear at the top of the Premier League table. Former City player Cole Palmer was the hero for Chelsea, scoring a late penalty to secure the draw.
City opened the scoring with a VAR-awarded penalty after Spanish defender Marc Cucurella fouled Haaland in the box. The Norwegian forward confidently dispatched the penalty in the 24th minute.
However, Chelsea quickly responded, with 39-year-old Thiago Silva heading in the equalizer just five minutes later. Former City forward Raheem Sterling then capitalized on a defensive error to put City back in the lead in the 37th minute.
But Chelsea fought back, and defender Manuel Akanji leveled the score for City with a header just before half-time.
Haaland once again put City in front with a scrappy goal early in the second half, but Chelsea quickly responded through Nicolas Jackson, setting the stage for a tense final half-hour.
City looked to have secured the victory when Rodri scored in the 86th minute, but a dramatic twist saw Palmer convert a penalty in the 94th minute to salvage a point for Chelsea.
The match was a true spectacle of attacking football, and the result keeps City at the top of the league standings, albeit by just a single point.
