(Reuters) – Manchester United announced on Tuesday that their centre-backs Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez will be sidelined for at least a month due to muscle injuries.

Lindelof, who is the captain of the Sweden national team, was forced off the pitch in the second half of Saturday’s match against Brentford due to a hamstring problem.

Following Lindelof’s injury, Martinez, who had just returned from a knee injury that had kept him out of action since February, came on as a substitute in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, the Argentina international then sustained a calf strain during training.

With both Lindelof and Martinez unavailable, Manchester United, currently in sixth place in the Premier League with 48 points and nine games left in the season, will face Chelsea in an away match on Thursday.
