(Reuters) – Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca gave little away regarding the club’s intentions before the transfer window closes, and is still unsure what his final squad will look like, the Italian said on Friday.

Maresca has already stated that the club need to offload players, and keeper Djordje Petrovic is one Chelsea player who left on a loan move to RC Strasbourg on Friday, hours before the window closes.

The manager had no other news regarding the club’s business in the transfer market but will be happy once he knows the final list of players at his disposal.

“In this moment we cannot give an update because we do not know how we will look (when the transfer window closes,” Maresca said.

“I think for all managers once the window is closed you can work just with that squad, those numbers, so you feel a bit better.

“But I’ve already said that since I started I’m working with around 25 players so you can manage quite well.”

Whatever happens on the business side of things, Maresca, who took over in June to replace Mauricio Pochettino, is happy with the players he has

“I really like the squad, I’ve said that since my first day here. I feel very lucky because we have many versatile players who can play in different positions,” he said.

“That is something I love. I feel lucky because first of all they are good boys, good human beings, and then they are also good players so this is important.”

Chelsea, with three points from two games, host Crystal Palace on Sunday. Palace lost both of their opening games.

“I watched both games, they probably didn’t deserve to lose but this is football,” Maresca said.

“They are a very good team since last year, they finished fantastic, and for sure this year they are again going to be there.”
