(Reuters) – Al-Nassr, the team of Cristiano Ronaldo, lost 3-0 to Al-Hilal in the Riyadh derby at the King Fahd International Stadium. This led to them falling further behind their rivals in the Saudi Pro League standings.
Ronaldo, the Portuguese striker, had to leave the field with rival fans taunting him. They were chanting the name of his great rival, Lionel Messi, who is an Argentinian World Cup winner, at the end of the game.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, a player of Al-Hilal, scored the first goal before Aleksandar Mitrovic’s late double sealed the win for the team. This victory took unbeaten Al-Hilal seven points clear of Al-Nassr at the top of the standings after 15 games into the season.
After a goalless first half, Saud Abdulhamid crossed the ball from the right in the 64th minute, allowing Milinkovic-Savic to head in the opener. This beat Nawaf Al-Aqidi low and to his right.
Mitrovic then headed in the second goal with a minute remaining when he nodded in Salem Al Dawsari’s corner.
Three minutes later, Mitrovic struck through the legs of Al-Aqidi and netted his 13th goal of the season, pulling to within two goals of Ronaldo on the top scorers’ chart.
Ali Al-Bulayhi, a defender of Al-Hilal, was sent off in injury time by the referee as Jorge Jesus’ side notched up their 13th win in 15 league games.
