In the first half, Guglielmo made three routine stops, denying Everton’s attempts to score. Despite the early goals from Richarlison and Son Heung-min, Everton fought back, and Guglielmo had to be at his best in the second half, saving a spectacular shot from Arnaut Danjuma.
Guglielmo also faced strong physical pressure from Everton but stood his ground, providing security for his team. His strong performance was praised by Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, who emphasized Guglielmo’s maturity and ability to handle the pressure as a goalkeeper.
Postecoglou also commented on Richarlison’s recent performance, stating that he was not surprised by the player’s turnaround. Richarlison has scored four goals in three matches, showing significant improvement compared to his previous record.
Regarding Richarlison’s substitution in the second half, Postecoglou mentioned that there was no major issue, and the Brazilian had a sore back. He also highlighted the mutual respect shown between Richarlison and the Everton fans, as the player applauded them when leaving the pitch, and the fans reciprocated the gesture.
“These things happen in football,” Postecoglou said, emphasizing the appreciation for Richarlison’s contribution to Everton.
