According to Reuters, a match in Germany’s third division between VfB Luebeck and Waldhof Mannheim was temporarily halted after fans threw snowballs onto the field, hitting one of the assistant referees.
Following the incident, the game was stopped for approximately 12 minutes in the second half. The interruption occurred in the 68th minute when Luebeck fans threw snowballs onto the pitch, one of which struck the assistant referee.
Both the stadium speaker and players urged the fans to calm down, and referee Nico Fuchs eventually instructed the players to return to the game a little later. In the end, Luebeck emerged victorious with a 2-1 win.
The interruption of the match comes as Germany is currently facing a cold snap, with snow and freezing temperatures in recent days.
