According to manager Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero will be out for at least a month after sustaining a hamstring injury during their 2-1 home win against Everton. Romero’s absence adds to Spurs’ defensive woes, with Micky van de Ven also sidelined since November and not expected to return until next month.
Postecoglou confirmed Romero’s injury and stated, “No, no. He’s no good. He’s had a scan, so he’ll be out for four or five weeks.” This comes as a blow for the team ahead of their Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday.
While Romero’s injury is a setback, Postecoglou mentioned that the rest of the squad got through the match unscathed. However, there are a few players with “sore bodies” but they have been taking it easy in training. He assured that everyone else is okay.
In addition to Romero and van de Ven, Tottenham is dealing with several other long-term absentees, including James Maddison, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon, Manor Solomon, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Ashley Phillips. The team will have to manage their squad carefully due to these various injuries.
