(Reuters) – Sunday’s Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and visitors Nottingham Forest will proceed as planned despite a tragic incident near the stadium, Tottenham Hotspur confirmed.
Authorities from London’s Metropolitan Police revealed that they had initiated a murder investigation in response to a distress call early on Sunday at Northumberland Park, where a man was discovered with stab wounds.
Despite efforts from paramedics to resuscitate him, the man could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tottenham Hotspur expressed their commitment to assisting the ongoing police inquiry in a statement, noting the significance of the investigation.
The club announced that the Premier League match against Nottingham Forest would still take place as scheduled, with precautionary measures in place, including the partial closure of nearby roads.
