(Reuters) – Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou praised captain Son Heung-min for his decisive goal against Luton Town, which helped keep the team in contention for a top-four finish. Tahith Chong initially gave Luton a surprising lead, but Tottenham managed to equalize with an own goal from Issa Kabore in the 51st minute.
Son sealed the victory with a well-executed strike in the 86th minute, marking his 160th goal for the club and placing him fifth on the all-time scorers’ list for Tottenham.
“Sonny always sets a high standard for himself, regardless of the opposition or the circumstances of the game. It’s quite challenging to maintain such a level of excellence,” Postecoglou said in a press conference. “He consistently pushes himself to be the best he can be, both on and off the pitch, showing remarkable leadership qualities.”
“He has been a key player for this club for a significant period, and I hope he continues to shine for many more years. Despite facing some tough challenges and missed opportunities, Son delivered when it mattered most and secured the victory for us,” Postecoglou added.
Tottenham, currently occupying the fifth position in the league standings, are set to face West Ham United, who are in seventh place, in their upcoming league match on Tuesday.
