The Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen defeated the champions Bayern Munich 3-0, extending their lead at the top of the league to five points and asserting their dominance in the title race. This victory maintained their unbeaten streak of 31 matches across all competitions this season and positioned them as strong contenders for their first Bundesliga title.

The goals from Josip Stanisic, Alejandro Grimaldo, and Jeremie Frimpong secured the three points for Leverkusen, while Bayern Munich struggled to make an impact, managing only one shot on target throughout the match. With this win, Leverkusen now sits at 55 points, five points ahead of second-placed Bayern Munich.

Leverkusen displayed more aggressiveness than Bayern, constantly increasing their pressure on the champions. The Bavarians struggled to defend against Leverkusen’s attacks and were caught off guard when Robert Andrich’s quickly taken throw-in found Stanisic unmarked at the far post to score the opening goal.

Grimaldo doubled Leverkusen’s lead with his eighth league goal of the season, and even hit the crossbar with a well-placed corner kick. Despite easing off towards the end of the match, Leverkusen still came close to securing a third goal with Frimpong’s attempt flying wide in the 73rd minute.

Bayern Munich failed to find a way back into the game, with their top scorer Harry Kane unable to make an impact. Frimpong’s effort to increase Leverkusen’s lead hit the post in the 88th minute, but he eventually capitalized on Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer’s mistake, scoring from 25 meters out into an empty net during stoppage time.
