Mozambique has announced their 23-man squad for the African Cup of Nations finals in the Ivory Coast, with 40-year-old winger Dominguez named as captain. This will be Mozambique’s first appearance at the finals since 2010. The tournament kicks off on Jan. 13 and Dominguez is expected to be the oldest player at the event.
The squad also includes former German under-20 international Alfons Amade, who has been called up for the first time. Amade, a defensive midfielder, has switched his international allegiance to Mozambique but has not yet made his debut for the national team. Mozambique will compete in Group B and will open their campaign against Egypt on Jan. 14 in Abidjan. They will also face the Cape Verde Islands and Ghana in the group stage.
Portuguese-born midfielder Guima, who scored on his debut in September, has also been included in the squad. Atletico Madrid fullback Reinildo, who last played for the national team in June during the qualification stage, is also part of the squad.
