Bayern Munich dominated Darmstadt 98 with a resounding 8-0 victory, led by a Harry Kane hat-trick, to take the top spot in the Bundesliga. The match was marred by a record-breaking three red cards in the first half, overshadowing goalkeeper Manuel Neuer’s comeback from injury.
Even with only 10 players on the field, Bayern Munich were unstoppable in the second half, scoring all of their goals against a nine-man Darmstadt. The scoring spree began in the 52nd minute with Kane’s diving header.
Leroy Sane contributed two goals, sandwiching a Jamal Musiala goal, effectively sealing the game. Kane added another spectacular goal with a 60-meter looping shot from inside the Bayern half.
In the 71st minute, Mueller added another goal, followed by Musiala’s second goal just five minutes later. Kane then completed his hat-trick in the 88th minute, making it his 12th goal in nine league games.
The first half was chaotic, with Bayern’s Joshua Kimmich and two Darmstadt players receiving straight red cards. This was the first time in a league game that three red cards were given in the first 45 minutes.
With 23 points, Bayern Munich currently leads the Bundesliga, only one point ahead of Bayer Leverkusen, who will be playing against Freiburg on Sunday.
