ANKARA (Reuters) – Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has called on Denmark to urgently address and prevent the burning of the Koran, according to sources from the Turkish foreign ministry.
During a phone conversation with Danish counterpart Lars Lokke Rasmussen, Fidan heavily criticized the “continuous vile attacks against the Koran”. He further expressed his view that allowing such actions under the guise of freedom of expression is absolutely unacceptable.
It remains to be seen how Denmark will respond to Turkey’s appeal.
