PUTRAJAYA: The National Water Services Commission (SPAN) has agreed to establish a Perlis Water Supply Special Committee to help Syarikat Air Perlis Sdn Bhd (SAP) to achieve its key performance index set by the Fourth Operating Period Plan (OP4).
In a statement on Friday (Oct 25), SPAN said among the matters that the committee will focus on to be improved by SAP include the reduction of non-revenue water (NRW), quality of treated water, reserved margin of treated water, continuity of water supply, operational ratio, human capital competence and strategy.
“SPAN, as a regulatory body for water services in Peninsula Malaysia and the Federal Territory of Labuan, takes seriously the achievements of KPI targets by all operators including SAP including comprehensive governance, reduction of NRW rates, and the ability to implement infrastructure expenditure projects (capex) in Perlis to ensure the sustainability and water supply security,” said SPAN.
The statement said the special committee will be led by SPAN and the membership also includes representatives from the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (Petra), the state government, SAP and related main agencies.
The elected members of the committee comprise those who specialise in the water service industry, added SPAN. – Bernama
