PETALING JAYA: There was no new national mark as sprinter Mohd Azeem Fahmi ended his campaign in the men’s 100m at the Paris Olympics with a time of 10.45s
The Auburn University student finished last in heat two at the Stade de France.
Kenyan Ferdinand Omonyola won the heat with a time of 10.08s.
Italian Chituru Ali took second with a time of 10.12s, while Germany’s Joshua Hartman was third, recording 10.16s.
It has dashed Azeem’s hope of getting to the semi-finals and failed in his bid to record a season-best in Paris.
Earlier, the 20-year-old Teluk Intan sprinter finished the preliminary round in second with a time of 10.42s.
Gambian Ebrahima Canara finished first with a time of 10.29s. Singapore’s Marc Brian Louis finished third with a time of 10.43s.
