BALIK PULAU: In the upcoming state elections, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke announced that the party will be contesting in all of their incumbent seats. Loke assured that there will be no major changes for DAP in these elections, as they will prioritize holding on to the seats they won previously.
During a press conference held after the distribution of licences under the MyLesen B2 national programme for motorcyclists at a driving school in Balik Pulau, Loke, who was the former transport minister, elaborated on DAP’s plans for the elections. When asked how many seats the party would be contesting, Loke responded by stating that they have not determined the exact number of seats, but Penang alone has 19, and DAP will contest in all of them.
The state elections are scheduled for next month, with polling taking place in Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu on August 12. However, Loke mentioned that he has not yet received the complete list of nominees from all six states.
The MyLesen B2 programme, launched by the Transport Ministry through the Road Transport Department (JPJ), aims to assist the B40 group in obtaining a Class B2 licence. This initiative is part of the 2023 Budget, with an allocation of RM2.7 million. Around 9,000 candidates from the B40 group are expected to benefit from the programme.
