SUNGAI PETANI: Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (pic) urged voters, particularly the youth, to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming state elections on Saturday, August 12. As part of this year’s National Day celebrations, the wife of the Prime Minister and former deputy prime minister emphasized the importance of demonstrating our determination as a nation to develop together. She encouraged voters to choose representatives who they believe can contribute to the development of the state and the country.
“Let’s develop our country together. Every vote matters. Let’s go out and vote,” she stated during the Semarak Merdeka program held in Sungai Petani.
The Election Commission (EC) has scheduled August 12 as the polling date for state elections in Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Terengganu, and Kelantan, as well as the by-election in Kuala Terengganu.
Furthermore, Dr Wan Azizah, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Bandar Tun Razak, cautioned against the influence of fake news spread through social media, particularly amongst the younger population.
“We must verify the validity of the source,” she added, emphasizing the need for critical thinking and fact-checking in the face of misinformation.
The state elections will serve as an important opportunity for the people to participate in shaping the future of their local communities. By electing representatives who have the welfare and development of the state and the nation at heart, the people can contribute to the overall growth and progress of the country.
Hence, the call to exercise the right to vote is not only an act of personal empowerment but also a collective effort towards nation-building. Each individual voice has the power to make a difference in the direction and development of the country.
The state elections are an integral part of the democratic process, allowing for the expression of public opinion and ensuring accountability of the elected representatives. Therefore, it is crucial for eligible voters, especially the youth, to actively participate and make informed decisions when casting their votes.
As the state elections draw near, the focus on the future of the nation intensifies. It is a time for reflection on the progress achieved and the challenges that lie ahead. The responsibility to choose capable representatives who can address the needs and aspirations of the people ultimately rests in the hands of the voters.
Dr Wan Azizah’s message serves as a reminder of the power and significance of every vote. The actions taken on election day can shape the political landscape, influence policies, and drive positive change for the betterment of the state and the country.
The choice to vote is not just a right but a duty that can make a lasting impact, and Dr Wan Azizah’s call resonates strongly with the citizens, urging them to fulfill this responsibility and contribute towards a brighter future for Malaysia.
